T-minus 5...

For everyone who's asked, this is it! I debated long and hard about my thoughts regarding personal blogs, and came to the conclusion that this is equally as pretentious as sending out long-winded group emails, but exponentially more simple and fun for me. Hopefully I will have something worthwhile to say to keep everyone interested in reading this! I've been asked a lot about mailing letters and/or packages to me, so if you feel so inclined, drop me a line via snail mail at

Monica Skelton, PCV
Bureau du Corps de la Paix
B.P. 12091
Poste Zoom Ankorondrano
Antananarivo 101
Madagascar

I leave July 10 for Philadelphia, July 12 for Johannesburg, and finally Madagascar by July 13. Can't wait!

  1. Well done Monica!
I went on VSO (UK equivalent of Peace Corps) in to Jamaica in 1969 (year of the first moon landing so couldn't watch it live on TV) but have never regretted it. Recently revived my overseas interest with two volunteer trips to Madagascar, one with my wife. Yes there's lots to do. Good luck with the Malagasy language training - do you have a teacher? Once you have your 'feet under the table' in Mada do contact me. I'd love to follow your progress and might be able to assist with contacts. mad.neil.cullen@gmail.com, neil-cullen.co.uk and I have some Mada clips on YouTube
